Spotline 101
Spotline is a remote spotting service, by and for people who use drugs, which comes with no strings attached: no judgment, no policing, no chastising. We see you as the expert in your own life.
When you call up and connect with a spotter, they’re going to ask some questions:
- Who they’re speaking to (using an alias is just fine)
- What you’re using, to the best of your knowledge
- Your route of administration (such as injecting, smoking, snorting, swallowing or boofing)
- The address you’re calling from, in case we have to direct someone to your location should you become unresponsive.
- OPTIONAL: As an alternative to 911/EMS, the name and number of your preferred emergency contact for if you become unresponsive. (Please make sure they know how to help and have agreed to, should it become necessary!)
Your spotter be on the line with you while you use, and until you feel safe to continue your day afterwards.
Feeling chatty?
Let’s chat!
Or maybe you’re more of a strong, silent type?
We can work with that too.. mostly.
Just don’t be TOO silent!
During the call, should you become unresponsive, we’ll ask a few times if you can hear us. If we don’t hear back, we’ll add your emergency contact to the call and stay on the line as long as they need us to.
A few things you can do to help:
Please put some naloxone out near you, if you have any around.
Don’t have any? Let us know and we can help with that!
Please unlock your door.
Unless your emergency contact is already inside, or you’re 100% certain they can quickly and easily enter on their own.
Please secure any animals inside the space you’re calling from.
We wouldn’t want your pet sloth making a run for it, or your snake demanding belly rubs when you need rescue breaths.
If you have any feedback for us about a call or Spotline in general, please do feel free to confidentially leave a message for our review crew by sending us feedback via form, or call us up via phone and hit 2.
We do also invite callers to participate in our decision making process; if you’d like to be heard and help out with that, please ask your spotter for more info.
That’s it, thanks for reading! We really appreciate your patience and help as an early guest of this service.
